We are learning about Explorers and the settlement of America
Today we began our new Language Arts and Social Studies Unit: Journeys!
The students generated a list of questions that they would like to learn about during this unit. By the end of the Journeys unit we would like to know:
* What Native Tribes lived here first?
* How did the Natives learn to survive?
*What tribes were friends / enemies?
* What routes did explorers take around the world? What were their boats?
* How did the Native people get to North America? How long did their journey take?
* Who was the 1st person to go around the world?
* How old was Christopher Columbus when he sailed to "The New World?"
These questions will help to drive our journey as we learn about the early European settlers of North and South America and the native people who lived there.
