My challenge to the students this weekend is to try to push down a tree by hand. The purpose of this challenge is to illustrate the resiliency of a tree, as well as demonstrate the purpose of roots. The guidelines are as follows:
1. You must push a tree that is at least as tall as you. (If you are 4 ft. tall, you must push a 4 ft. tall tree.)
2. You may not push a dead tree.
3. If you have friends help to push the tree, the tree must be as tall as both friends combined. (If you are 4 ft. tall and your friend is 5 ft. tall, you must push a 9 ft. tall tree.)
4. An adult must be present to supervise.
Post your findings to the blog!
